How much do Indian D2C brands raise at seed?
The median announced seed round for an Indian D2C brand was ₹6.5 crore, about $770,000. Half of all rounds fell between ₹4 crore and ₹12.5 crore.
That comes from our own count of 58 equity rounds announced between January 2024 and October 2026, 29 of them seed rounds with a disclosed amount. Every round in our file links to the article that reported it.
The numbers
| Stage, as reported | Rounds with an amount | Median | Middle half |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pre-seed | 12 | ₹5.55 cr | ₹2.6 to 7.5 cr |
| Seed | 29 | ₹6.5 cr | ₹4 to 12.5 cr |
| Pre-Series A | 7 | ₹16.8 cr | ₹11.75 to 18.4 cr |
Seed rounds ran from ₹1.25 crore to ₹30 crore. A spread that wide makes the average misleading, so we report the median.
Who led
Venture funds led 19 of the 30 seed rounds where a lead was named (63%). Angel networks or individual angels led 7 (23%). Family offices led none. They show up in these rounds as participants, not leads.
Did seed rounds get bigger?
Not in a way we can measure. The median was ₹6.5 crore in 2024 (5 rounds), ₹6 crore in 2025 (14) and ₹8.9 crore in 2026 (10). Those samples are too small to call a trend. What 2026 does have is a few large seed cheques (₹24 to 30 crore), and several of them came from the same handful of consumer funds.
What this count can't tell you
- It only covers announced rounds. Friends-and-family money, founder cheques and quiet rounds are missing. Announced rounds tend to be larger.
- Stage labels mean different things. A brand called a ₹28 crore round seed, and another called a ₹1.25 crore round seed. We kept the labels as reported.
- It's weighted to recent years. We found 9 rounds from 2024, 21 from 2025 and 28 from 2026.
- Six rounds didn't disclose an amount. They are left out of the medians, and we can't tell whether that pushes the medians up or down.
- Dollar figures use ₹84 to the dollar where the source gave only dollars.
What we read into it
This part is our view, not a finding. The label on a round matters less than what the money has to prove. A seed round usually has to buy enough time to show that customers come back and that each order makes money. Founders who set the amount from that, and not from the median, walk into the next round with something to show.
We help founders work out that number and then raise it. If we ran your venture diagnostics, the raise starts after a one-quarter cooling-off period. If not, we start right after our own investability review.
